Bass Bridge
A hybrid of Infrastructure & Art that challenges ideas of scale in Public places
The bridge crosses over Collins Ave. in Miami Beach and essentially forms a continuous public connection from the western end of Collins park where the Bass Art Museum is located to the eastern end where the beach boardwalk begins.
It is conceived from two giant parallel walls that are triangulated, rounded, and bent to create an elevated canyon-like space that carefully inserts itself around the necessary clearances for vehicular circulation below as well as open itself up to the surrounding views of the park and beach.
Inwardly and outwardly the giant walls are layered with giant figural patches that internally create rock climbing walls and externally photovoltaic panel surfaces.
